You can use an ExpressCard-eSATA card and two (or more) external disks,
such as http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16839158039

You should be able to do about 400 MB/sec through that card, limited by
the PCIe 2.0 x1 link from the expresscard to the CPU.  With 4kB random
reads that's about 100,000 IOPS.

(Caveat, it's not entirely clear which ExpressCard 2.0 devices support
5Gbit/s links, some are 2.5 Gbit/S limiting you to 200 MB/sec and 50,000
IOPS.)
